Two Years Old

Our little Ellie girl just had her second birthday.  Time flies.  We didn't do a huge celebration for her, but enjoyed activities in the days leading up to her birthday.  On Monday we went to the Pizza Pie Cafe with my family to have a little party before my brother went in for open heart surgery.  On Tuesday we went to Thanksgiving Point with Eric's mom and stepdad.  We'd never been tot he Children's Discovery Garden before.  It's well worth the trip, especially if you go on a day when it only costs $2.  I don't know what it usually costs, but it's more than that.  Eliana had so much fun splashing around in the water at the Noah's Ark place, as well as running around and looking at all the other things they had.  I spent most of my time sitting while the other adults took Ellie around.  On Wednesday, her real birthday, we didn't do much.  Eric was at work and Ellie and I stayed home and played.  We went swimming, but other than that the day passed fairly quietly.  We had leftover birthday cake and let Ellie blow out the candle.  She had a great time opening gifts.
Eliana continues to learn and grow and make us happy.  She's fascinated with babies, which we hope will be a good thing when her little sister arrives next month.

I've heard that you can predict a child's adult height by doubling their height at two years old.  If that ends up being true then we can expect Ellie to be around 5' 10" as an adult.  She measured 35 inches and about 30 lb.  Thankfully the doubling standard doesn't count for weight.

Curly hair seems to be a curse to our Eliana.  It gets tangled pretty easily, so she doesn't let me comb it very often.  When I wasn't so very pregnant I would make her sit still, but I just don't have that kind of energy.  That translates into having a lot of her pictures with scratty, tangled hair.  We're working on it.

Princesses are becoming even more of a fascination.  I really hopes she wants to play dress up when she's older.  I'l have so much fun with that.

Things continue to be much the same.  Ellie is very active, which we don't understand considering the meager amount of food she eats.  She loves to run and play and is very social.  She's our little darling.  And she likes to blow out the candle.
