An EllieBelly Birthday

Eliana's birthday was a busy, busy day. I had no idea there was so much prep for an event that I really didn't plan. My mom was awesome to bring the food. All I did was pick up a cake and bring presents. Rather than just talk about it, here are a few pictures of the festivities.

Her special birthday outfit came together nicely. I bought the shoes for a different outfit, the top to go with a different skirt (but they clashed terribly) and the pettiskirt was made from fabric my mom had laying around. The only part that was purposely planned to go with the outfit was the maribou clippie, which I love as much as the rest of the outfit.
For dinner we just stripped her down and put her in the Bumbo. I forgot to bring the high chair. Oops. We kept her stripped for the cake. I'm not quite sure what her little expression means...
Thank you, Macey's, for the free first birthday cake! That's my favorite price.
Eliana is a very clean eater, so she didn't get a ton of cake on her. She mostly just scraped off the frosting and shoved it in her mouth. Most of the cake remained untouched. She may not have made a mess of herself (fine by me), but she rocked her little birthday hat. Notice the "1" and the fluffy embellishment. Contrary to popular belief, I did not make my daughter a dunce cap.
Dinner and cake were the appetizers before the main event: opening presents. After getting cleaned up and redressed we gathered all the gifts and let her play in them.It took a bit of coaxing to get her to open the presents, but she eventually got the hang of it. Sort of.Family pictures were the final order of the day. My dad took pictures of all of us on my side. Pretty quick here we're going to be short a person. My cute sister in law was due two days after Eliana's birthday. There were a few just for fun pictures taken. I absolutely love this one of the three of us.It's easy to see how much she loves the slide. It's great fun watching her play. It was a really fun day and I appreciate the help I had tossing it together.

The End.

Hi Jordan, your mom gave me the link to your blog. :) I love Eliana's birthday outfit! It is adorable! How did you make the birthday hat?

I had a pattern for the hat and just used leftover fabric. The fluff is leftover sheer tricot from the pettiskirt she's wearing in the other pictures. I used my new ruffle foot (I. LOVE. IT.) to gather it and just made and little "1" applique. It just takes two layers of interfacing instead of one.
