Well, tonight is another cry-it-out night. We've been lucky so far because Eliana has just gone to sleep since that first night. Not tonight. She is screaming. But she has had an eventful day.
Today was Daddy's birthday. Eliana came with me everywhere I needed to go to prepare for it and was so sweet about it. She only bothered to sleep while riding in the car, but you take what you can get. However, what little time she did sleep didn't add up to much.
Eliana had a great time being the center of attention for a very long time today. She was really playful, so I made sure to enjoy that. When we went to dinner we were surrounded by family and they can't get enough of her. The staff at the Indian restaurant we went to couldn't get enough of her, either. The owner loved playing with her and talking to her. The waiter (who did an excellent job of keeping our water glasses full) didn't seem to speak English, but enjoyed standing aside and waving at Eliana. The one woman there on the staff seemed to like playing peek-a-boo and teasing with food. When we were all done with our meal she even used a spoon to feed Eliana some of the leftover rice. The woman seemed to take great pleasure in the cuteness that is my baby. As the bill was being paid she asked to hold Eliana and we agreed. I think she wanted to keep her. Too bad. I like Eliana too well to give her away.
The screaming has stopped and she's asleep. Ah...silence. Considering all the food Eliana has had in the last couple of hours she should be zonked for a very long time. She ate rice we placed on the table for her (there was a lot), she ate her servings of cauliflower, salmon, and apples, and finished up with a biter biscuit. Her tummy has to be really full. Crap. The phone just rang and she's crying again. Note to self: keep this screaming fit in mind when you want to call someone with a baby after 8 pm. I've been enjoying not waking up with her at night.
Anyway, Eliana also got to try ice cream for the first time. She loved it, but I don't really want her to have it much (or again) until her first birthday. It's not a nice thing when the spoon is empty. Here are a couple of pictures to enjoy while the baby calms down again.
Here she is shoveling the rice we put on the table cloth for her into her mouth.
This pic is a few days old, but Eliana is really getting the hang of standing up still.
Eliana is also cutting teeth five and six. Not such a fun time for her, but this time around she's handling it much better.
