Eliana's First Christmas

It turns out I only have pictures on my camera from when we went to my parents' place. There are other pictures of Ellie that I plan on getting from my in-laws and several more from my dad.

Christmas Eve was spent at Eric's dad's house. He got off work earlier than we expected and it was great for all of us to spend more time together that evening. Eliana got to open her first present, which was a super cute outfit from her aunt Amber (see below). She enjoyed it and really loved trying to eat the paper it came in. Great-grandparents were also there and had fun passing her around.

We all (and Eliana, in particular) had an eventful day for her first Christmas. After being dressed in that super cute outfit we went to my parents' house for Christmas morning. She helped to open the present her Grandma and Grandpa Green got her: her very own Bumbo chair. She got to help open that, too.

We used the Bumbo chair at breakfast to feed her her very first solid food. She had some yummy (I assume) rice cereal mixed with a lot of breastmilk. The experience was interesting. I think she liked the taste, but she had a hard time figuring out how to swallow and most of it ended up on her bib. It also ticked her off that she was eating something, but she wasn't getting very full. Everything takes time.

As expected, the wrapping and the box were better than the present.

As we were finishing up at my parents' house we got a phone call from Eric's step dad to warn us about the snow. We decided to try, anyway, and ended up making it through the snow okay. It just took us longer than usual and Eric, his brother, and his step dad had to dig out the driveway so there was somewhere to park.

We had a great time there, too. Ellie sat on Mike's lap long enough to process her rice cereal and move it from her tummy to her diaper...and her new dress...and Mike's shirt. Sorry, Mike.

It was a long day after we finished at the Cottam house, but we still stopped by Granny's house to say hi to her and my aunt's family. Even though it was a long day she still chose to wait to go to sleep until after 11. Silly girl. I'll post more pictures when I get them. We hope you had a merry Christmas.

You should see the snow here in Portland. Everyone's got chains on because they don't have plows to clear the roads. It's a mess.
