What Once Was Lost

Well, my missing camera has returned. I thought the last place I'd had it was at my parents' house on November 1st when I hung out with them while Eric was at drill. After much searching, the camera did not present itself. Turns out I had ridden in my mom's car and the camera had fallen out of the diaper bag into the space between the seat and the door. As there are not usually passengers in her car, my mom did not quickly find the camera. Now it is back at home and I can use it to take pictures of our little Nanook.

On the side I have a poll about whether or not I should go private with this particular blog. Here is my reasoning. Earlier this week I went to a blog I used to frequent until it got a little ugly during the political season. The author is a girl I went to high school with (we'll call her S) who has very different political views than I do. I went to see what her reaction had been to Prop 8 passing in California. I had to read the comments section to find out. I guess one of the commenters (call her J) disagreed with what S had to say and told her so. S went to J's blog and made her own comments. These comments were deleted, making S upset. She then copied a picture of J's children from that blog and posted it to her own. The entry that went with it called them the saddest children in America. J was upset (obviously) that a picture of her children had been posted on the other blog and asked that it be removed. S refused to do so until the deleted comments were restored.

I know how I would react if someone copied pictures of my little girl without permission. It wouldn't be pretty. So that's why I'm wondering if I should just go private. Then I won't have to worry about it. On the other hand, I'm not sure very many people come looking here. There's a reason I post all her stuff here and don't make any comments on anyone else's blog under this username. So go vote on the poll to let me know what you think or, even better, leave a comment with your thoughts.

Once again, a very cute pic of Eliana! :) As for making the blog private...I think you should do whatever you feel best about. Me personally, I don't think I know anyone that reads my blog that would be as stupid and unfeeling as it appears the people in your story are. So I wouldn't make my blog private, but then again, I don't have kids. If you would feel more safe and better about it in general, then you should make it private--if only to give you peace of mind.

There are definite pros and cons to having a private blog. I like having a public blog, but to keep my hubby happy I no longer post pics of my boys on it. I'll probably make one for my kids at some point and make it private, we'll see.
If you make the blog private, please make sure you invite me!
