14 Week Dr Appointment

Today's appointment was great. I was a little nervous, as I suspect I will be for a while, but nothing near the shower of tears I was last time. I didn't even cry a little bit. After the compulsory pee-in-the-cup I met with the doctor. He asked how I was feeling and if I thought I was getting bigger. I told him I spend a lot of time trying to feel my uterus and he had me lay down so he could feel it. He found it immediately, which was a relief to me. The only time I had been able to feel it until that very morning was when I had a full bladder. When that was the case It was up around my navel. I knew that was way too big. My fear was that he either wouldn't be able to find it or that he would discover twins. Both options were...undesirable to me. Once he found it I saw that it was in the right place and felt much better. The very best was when he brought out the doppler. As soon as he put it on my tummy we heard the baby's heartbeat. The baby almost immediately ran away, but the doctor found him/her quickly again and we got to listen. I was very very very happy.

A the end of the appointment he told me to talk to the nurse about setting up the appointment for my 20 week ultrasound. I stopped him before he left so I could ask him about my "yeast infection." I had treated it with Monostat a few weeks earlier and had no result. My pap smear showed no yeast, so there never was a yeast infection. What a waste of money and unneccary nastiness. The new treatment includes a 1% hydrocortisone cream mixed with a gentle, unfragranced lotion and applied with a cotton ball. The other options to mix with the cortisone were Crisco or lard. Doesn't that sound like something everyone wants to do?

The appointment for the ultrasound was set up for March 19th. I'm way excited. It will be a great experience. I'm just so happy the appointment went so well.
