My husband went on a camping trip with the scouts on Friday, so I arranged to spend the night at my parents' house. We had decided that we were telling my husband's family on Sunday (today) and I thought it would be good to tell my parents, too. I had the worst time trying to decide how to tell them. While they went out with some friends I racked my brain trying to think of something cute. It didn't come. The best I could do was tell them I hadn't wanted to frighten them earlier, but that I'd had a trip to the hospital earlier in the week. I really didn't want them to worry, so I quickly told them it was for an ultrasound. They both look really happy and excited. After I finished talking my mom said Dad had told her I was pregnant a week ago. That surprised me and I asked how he knew. He just pointed upward. I'm not sure if he got his personal revelation on the couch, but he told my mom about it at Golden Corral over breakfast last week. So I guess there weren't any surprises there.
The next morning I went shopping with my mom to spend the gift cards I'd gotten for Christmas. We ended up buying fabric for a blessing dress if the baby is a girl. I remembered this morning that we had saved the fabric from my wedding gown to make a blessing dress. I guess I'll use that for baby girl #2. If it's a boy then we saw other patterns we would like. We went to Walmart to scout out the fabric deals there and I ended up with fabric for two maternity outfits (one dress, a skirt, and a top to match the skirt) for $7.50. i couldn't help but be pleased with that. Hopefully this week I'll be able to start work on a different maternity dress with fabric purchased several months ago. I'm pretty excited.
