Twenty-Two Months

As if to show her independence with a new age number, Eliana spent her 22 month mark not sleeping.  She made it until we got in the car to pick Daddy up from work before she zonked out--finally.  Mommy is more than a little exhausted at the moment.

Having a prenatal appointment a few days before Ellie's month marks makes it easy to ask them to weigh and measure her.  She ended up at 30 pounds while fully clothed and 34 inches tall including her shoes.  Last month she measured at 35 inches while stooping, so I guess we'll get a more accurate measurement in two months when she has her last well baby checkup.

Little things for the month:  She loves to wear her sunglasses and hats.  That was not true last summer.  She still yanks off hair bows, unfortunately for her mother.  Sitting politely(ish) in restaurants seems to be a good talent.  I like that she doesn't throw food or screaming fits.  Booster chairs are much more preferred than high chairs so we got her one at home, too.  She will often ask to sit in her "chair, chair!" when she wants to eat.  Another thing that goes along with eating is when she says "I drop it" after she drops something to the floor.  We're working on having her not drop her food on the floor.  "Thank you" is said without prompting and Eliana is getting better at saying "please", as well.  Sometimes it turns into her saying, "Please!  Good job."  I guess you can't tell what she hears after she tells us please.

Ellie is getting very affectionate...particularly with boys.  Sometimes she'll just choose a boy who happens to be in the room and hug him over and over.  And over.  I've had to physically pull her away when the boy gets distressed at the girl who has latched on to his chest.  I don't know why Ellie seems to prefer the boys, but it certainly makes the nursery staff laugh themselves silly.  She'll also hug her cousin, Daphne, to the point of Daphne's irritation.  It makes me hopeful that she will be affectionate with her little sister when she comes.  On the flip side of that, she also likes to step on people lying on the floor, including the 6 month old boy I watch occasionally.  I'm going to have to watch Maya closely during tummy time to make sure her sister doesn't use her as a stepping stone.

My favorite hair development has been putting it in a ponytail.  It's really cute, but she also looks so grown up.  That part is a little sad, but I guess that's why we're continuing to have children. ;)

I would include pictures of the past month, but it looks like the only ones I have are from the zoo and posted just below this entry.  But look at the previous age entry to see the pictures I'm putting up just as soon as I finish this post.
