Aaaaaaaaaa Very Merry Half Birthday to Ellie (Six Months)

Half a year. Holy crap. Eric and I can hardly believe that she has grown up so fast. I had always thought of babies as starting to be "old" when they got to six months. It's rather bittersweet to watch her grow up. I get so excited to see all of her little milestones and watch her develop. At the same time, once one has passed I know I can't stay as she is. In another six months she won't be considered a baby anymore. She'll be a toddler. Time passes so quickly when all you want to do is hold on to it a little longer. I find myself depressed any time I pack away clothes that she no longer fits. If I could keep her like this forever, I would be sorely tempted. On the flip side, it's so fulfilling to see each new stride she makes and know that great things are yet to come.

For Eliana's half birthday we went to the JCPenney portrait studio to have pictures taken. That was a great experience. They were helpful, the pictures are DARLING, and I felt like we got a kickin' deal ($51 for 10 portrait sheets of different poses, including a special 10x10 that usually costs $25 on it's own. And then my mom offered to cover $20 of the cost. Okay!). I can't wait to get the pictures back. Sadly, they are copyrighted and I can't post them. Too bad for you. But I am posting a few pictures of her in the little dress she wore. The only thing we did other than hang out at work was go to my brother's birthday party. He turned 31 today.

In the past month Eliana decided that she didn't really want to roll over, after all. Then, a few days ago, she picked it up again and is travelling quite well. Just like when I was pregnant with her, she likes to resolve things I was going to ask the doctor about just a couple of days before her appointment.
Two teeth have broken all the way through on the bottom. I can't let her chew on my finger anymore because now she bites. At least she mostly only bites my finger. She will sometimes bite me while she's eating, but not that often.

Mobility is getting better as she will roll and reposition herself until she can reach what she wants. I can also see her starting to work out that she can inch forward. She's moved a few centimeters, but she's still working on it all. It was funny to watch her put her little bum in the air to get some leverage.
Eliana is getting a teeny bit more stable with sitting on her own, She still has a weeble bottoom, but that will get better. She is ready to move on to veggies and fruits in her diet and that will mean a little more effort on my part. I'm a little curious what it will mean for her diapers, too.

Here's to another great six months. I am still under the impression that she is the cutest and most sweet tempered baby. I love her so much that it wants to jump out and it makes my moments with her golden.

She is adorable! I love the little dress. I'm sad we don't get to see the professional ones. Doesn't JCPenny know about blogs? Obviously not or else they would know that that would be better publicity than sending me coupons in the mail. I am much more likely to go get my kid's pics taken (and I need to) if I see the product than if I get a coupon. Coupons advertising killer deals just make me think the photographer is really just a person who is getting paid to use a fancy camera. Can you tell I've had a bad experience?

I digress... my point was that Eliana is ADORABLE!
