Thirty-Seven Weeks

Weeks along: 37 weeks 1 day
Weight: 215
Waist: 43
Symptoms: Sleeping is a little more difficult because I get so uncomfortable. Wait, I'm ALWAYS uncomfortable. Oh, well. The baby is still moving around plenty, although she has some days where she hardly moves at all and others where she just rocks out. Heartburn is getting worse again, so I'll ask the doctor tomorrow if it's okay for me to do a second round of Prilosec. That should hold me until the baby gets here.

Milestones: This little girl is now full term. She could be safely born as soon as she chooses. However, we want her to wait until her daddy is finished with finals. August 8th, my darling baby. Be born on August 8th! The downside of being at full term is that everyone comments. "So she can come any time now." "I bet you can't wait to get her out." "Are you going to ask the doctor to induce you?" "Not much longer now!" "Are you ready?"

It is also getting very real. One of the guys at work found out the same day I did that his wife was expecting. I tested the first day of my missed period so I could buy my favorite cold medicine. I was a little surprised at the positive, but I knew good and well that it was a distinct possibility. They, on the other hand, were not trying to get pregnant and were a bit more surprised. That translated into her being about two and a half weeks ahead of me. From as soon as he announced the pregnancy (about 10-12 weeks before I announced mine) I was paying close attention to what happened with her pregnancy. This past week she had a doctor appointment at which he said she was progressed far enough that the doctor asked if she wanted to be induced. They thought that sounded good and she was induced the next day. I haven't heard the news yet, but I'm sure the baby is born by now (3 days later). Now that leaves me, just waiting to see what happens. Tomorrow is my first appointment that will check my dilation and effacement progress. It's almost a bit scary. The baby will be born soon and I'll be a mom. Wow.
